Impulse Ion
In addition to sodium and potassium, other ions is necessary for nerve impulses that travel?
in the human body-What is the function specific to this ion?
Calcium (Ca2 +) When a nerve impulse reaches the end of the axon of a neuron .. can not be carried out directly or electrically neuron to the next because there is a small space (synaptic cleft) between neurons .. so the nerve impulse has to be transferred chemically to neurotransmitters .. closed voltage calcium ion channels to open end of an axon when a nerve impulse comes to them .. the influx of calcium into the cell triggers the release of neurotransmitter vesicles of the presynaptic neuron (first neuron) that travel through the synaptic cleft and fuse with the postsynaptic neuron (Second neuron) .. This causes an electrical nerve impulse in the second neuron
