Does the item duplication trick using the Pokemon Storage system work in Pokemon Fire Red?

The trick by putting a pokemon in the storage system and changing boxes. Just wondering if it works in this game still. I know it works in Gold, Silver, Ruby, and Saphire but not sure about FIre Red or Leaf Green.

I'm sure it works with a GBA action replay
