Global Gxg
Global Express Guaranteed (GXG) isn't available at my zip code, but is at nearby post office. So can I use it?
Aren't international shipments fun?
I'm in the process of setting up a shipment to the Philippines using USPS's Global Express Guaranteed (GXG) service, using their online shipment "wizard." In one of the steps it asked for my ZIP code. Upon entering it, the wizard said that GXG isn't available at my ZIP code, and just below that it gave me a list of every ZIP code in Utah where GXG is available. So I selected a ZIP code about a mile from here and clicked Next.
The wizard is allowing me to finish the shipment order. Does this mean that I can ship from my home, which is allowed for GXG? Or does it mean I have to drop it off at the other post office? If the latter, can I just use their drop box?
Every time I ship something to another country, I'm left with questions like this. I wish the wizard included a FAQ for each page of questions.
The Zip Code that you use to set up the GXG shipment is where you must deposit the item. If you try sending from your home or home ZIP Code, your item will be returned or not picked up.
GXG is NOT available from your Post Office. Drive, bicycle or walk the mile to the correct Post Office that you used to create the shipping label.
